Three large birch trees, one 12 feet in diameter, were uprooted at Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery by yesterday’s strong winds. Fortunately only a couple of stones were knocked over but they weren’t damaged and can be placed back on the bases. Cemetery manager Jack Dease tells CJLS News Mountain Cemetery tries to mitigate any weather-related damage and monitors all the trees. “and any of them that look like they’re compromised by a breakage or a split or any damage done due to the storms, we try to address that as best we can and as quickly as we can. ” About two-dozen huge trees at the cemetery were felled by post-tropical storm Arthur in 2014.
