A non-profit group in Digby County has expanded its facility to reach out to those in need.
The Conway Workshop Association held its first meeting last night looking for input from the public on how the kitchen, located in the facility, could become more inclusive.
Kitchen facilitator Judy Green says they subsidize meals for their clients.
“Programming will be targeting the neediest in our community. People who are needing to get their food from the food bank, who are on fixed incomes like seniors or people who are on quite low income.”
Jill Baxter, executive director of the Conway Workshop says they provide much more than healthy food.
“They would be able to take away from our kitchen things that would help them at home or when they’re grocery shopping, like how to read labels.”
Cooking classes will be offered to promote eating healthy on a budget.
The costs are subsidized through a provincial grant.
