Spring forecast good news for farmers.

Wednesday, March 3rd 2010

Environment Canada is predicting warmer and drier conditions than average this spring.

It's part of a trend across the country

The president of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, Richard Melvin, says what's predicted for March, April and May is most farmers ideal forecast.

If the forecast holds up, he says it should make for a good planting season.

Melvin says if fields are too soggy, it can create problems for the physical planting of crops, as well as the growth of the plants.
