Yarmouth Downtown Revitalization Plan to be unveiled.Tuesday, March 2nd 2010 After a year marked by a housing crisis, the economic downturn and the loss of ferry service, many hope the plan will demonstrate how the town council will pump new life into the downtown core.
Mayor Phil Mooney says the Revitalization Plan is aggressive.
He says the plan will be served up in 5 and 10 year increments and if the town implements all of the plan, could spend over 13 million dollars over 20 years.
Mayor Mooney says the Downtown Revitalization Plan has been designed with the current economic climate in mind.
"Some of the things we've already budgeted for like streets and sidewalks, there's a couple of projects there will be unveiling on Monday night that we have money in th budget for already over and atop of what. we're going to spend."
"Some of the money comes out of our current capital which is a good thing, so, people will b impressed by this report."
"It's been well documented by Ekistics (Ekistics Planning Design) they've done a wonderful job. I think they caught the essence of what the community wanted."
"This is going to be a 20 year project so I hope everybody, not only town resident but people from the Municipality come out and seen what can happen in our downtown."
The plan will be presented to the public Monday March 8th, 7pm, at the Rodd Grand Hotel.<< Back |
