American man hopping mad about loss of Cat ferry.

Thursday, February 11th 2010

Cape Cod says he was so upset with the provincial government's decision not to support the ferry that he wrote to both Premier Darrell Dexter and Economic Minister Percy Paris. He's had no response yet.  Handel says he can't comprehend why the provincial government doesn't understand the implications of its decision. He says "it's so sad to see this decision which will certainly be detrimental to all of the province but particularly to Yarmouth and the southwestern Nova Scotia area who depend heavily on tourism who are having their legs cut out from beneath them by this decision. Handel also says he's annoyed by some people's ignorance of the issue. He says "you read some of these little web comments or blogs that people write and they clearly don't have a grasp of the issue. They see it as the government to [the] Cat ferry. It's not, its the government giving money to support the Cat ferry which brings tens of millions of dollars to the province and may well affect their very own job." Handel says he encourages people in southwestern Nova Scotia to "keep up the fight."
