Yarmouth restaurant and lounge to close its doors.

Wednesday, February 10th 2010

After 34 years in business Captain Kelley's restaurant, lounge and pub in Yarmouth will close its doors effective midnight February 20th. Owner Brian Rodney says it was one of he most dfficult decisions he's ever had to make. "It's the seven people who I had to lay off who are on my mind right now" says Rodney as he spoke with CJLS News. Rodney says it was the province''s decision to stand firm and not support ferry service from Yarmouth that led to his decision to close down Captain Kelley's. He says he will try and develop an alternative business plan for Kelley's. He says both he and his wife along with some o his employees attended last week's ferry rally in Halifax and he said he was hopeful after the rally that something might change.
