New tourism group formed.

Thursday, February 14th 2013

The Municipality of Argyle seems enthusiastic about a new tourism group and how it can nurture the industry.
The Bon Temps Tourism and Geotourism Society believes visitors' experience can be enhanced when they learn about local culture and traditions and
are offered in-depth opportunities to enjoy the area's natural beauty and biodiversity
Vaughan Perret of Trout Point Lodge made a presentation to Argyle council Tuesday night.
He tells CJLS the Bon Temp Society grew out of a Francophone best practices mission to the Magdalen Islands.
Perret tells CJLS about what geotourism is and how the National Geographic Society plays a major role.
Perret says the first step is for each municipal unit to sign the National Geographic Geotourism Charter which is a statement in principle to steer tourism development.
Argyle council voted unanimously to do just that.
